Water main break forces boil order in Glen Carbon
Crews work for hours to restore service

An eight-inch water main located off Girl Scout Road in Glen Carbon ruptured Wednesday evening resulting in a boil order for a handful of residents.

Village maintenance crews worked for hours to repair the busted pipe, which is under Interstate 270, west of Meridian Road and east of Illinois Route 157.

They were able to get the water turned back on by the early afternoon on Thursday.Only about eight residents on two streets were affected, however, the broken water main required several public works' employees to tend to the repair.

Those homes affected were 151 Smola Lane, 155 Smola Lane, 163 Smola Lane, 169 Smola Lane, 170 Smola Lane, 89 Girl Scout Road, 94 Girl Scout Road and 98 Girl Scout Road.
